Over a year ago I was suffering severe asthma symptoms that prevented me from performing every day activities. Walking up the stairs required me to use two different inhalers, and going to college classes required me using my emergency inhaler from the handicap parking space to walking to my desk on the first floor. My breathing created a fear inside me that prevented me from going out with my friends, because I was worried I would might fall over heaving from walking short distances. Soon my symptoms become worse and I began getting bronchial spasms that stopped my breathing altogether five different times. Each time I thought I was going to die, and every time I was rushed to the hospital they would give me a nebulizer until I was stabilized enough to go home.
I went to the top recommended asthma clinics and spent hundreds of dollars on 8 different inhalers, steroids, and asthma pills. The inhalers stopped working, and the pills made my abdomen swell up in excoriating pain.
Through what may seem like fate, a dentist referred me to Respiras Breathing, and I thought what the heck! Let’s try it. This leap of faith was one of the most important decisions that I have and ever will make for the rest of my life.
Within the first 15 minutes of my initial evaluation, I was connected to an instrument to look at my breathing patterns. In that moment I realized that not a single doctor, clinic, or hospital took the time to look at my breathing patterns and carbon dioxide levels! Roberto calmly explained to me that my CO2 levels were low and that I had engaged in an unhealthy behavior of breathing. How could something so simple be looked over by everyone in the medical industry? I was immediately up for the challenge to change my CO2 levels, because what else did I have to lose?
By the 5th visit with Respiras Breathing, I had no need at ALL to use any of my asthma medications and felt amazing! By the next month, an asthma clinic called to follow up with me and I told them my asthma was GONE! They of course scoffed at me and told me to call them when it gets worse again. Well folks, it has been over a year and I have ZERO asthma symptoms! I go on hikes, I can work out, and I have no fear of going out with friends.
During the same time that I was dealing with severe asthma symptoms, I was also dealing with TMJ. My jaw used to lock up and not allow me to eat for several hours or sometimes not till the next day. As my TMJ got worse, I sought out a specialized dentist to help fix my jaw. After months of treatment, I found that my jaw actually felt worse than before, and then I was told that I would need to shave down my molars to get rid of the pain. After the first few months of seeing Roberto, I noticed that my jaw pain was gone. I would never imagine that improper breathing with unbalanced CO2 could cause jaw pain and tooth aches. It has been almost a year since the last time my jaw locked up.
When I was ten years old, I experienced my first panic attack that triggered crippling anxiety in me until I was in college. This anxiety made me believe that my home was the only safe place in the world. Unfortunately, my home burned down in the Waldo Canyon Fire in 2012. The fire resulted in me dealing with severe PTSD and feeling that I had nowhere safe to go home to. After years of counseling and trying different medications, I was diagnosed with ‘severe multiple PTSD’ and was taking medications daily to control my anxiety levels. Much along with my TMJ story, I did not seek out Respiras for anxiety treatment, but now I could not even tell you where my anxiety medications are because I stopped taking those months ago.
Through my training with Respiras Breathing, I have felt a peaceful radiating energy from within, and can calm myself down in a matter of seconds through controlling my CO2 levels. This is a magnificent feeling that I never thought I would be able to achieve without taking a full dose of medications. I am drug free, and feel free.
I recommend Respiras Breathing and Roberto to everyone, because he can do more than just work with asthma symptoms. I learned skills that help me with stress and life in general! Roberto does not treat clients as just patients, he treats them as friends that he truly wants to help. Respiras Breathing feels like family.
